The Stages of Early Childhood and Growth, and How to Deal with Them

Although not much may be learned during these years academically, early childhood is the most crucial aspect of an individual’s life. Things experienced by the child between the ages of 0 to 6 will work as the foundation of their personality, perception, interests, and even fears. It is very important, therefore, to take particular care and attention in stimulating their growth during these vital years, so that they can be on the path to becoming healthy individuals mentally, physically, and emotionally.

There are stages of early childhood which vary according to the age of the child. During these crucial stages, learning about their behavior, being able to properly nurture their needs, and guiding them towards a healthy and amiable attitude are everything.

  1. Infants (0 – 1 year old)
Although they are not able to utter coherent words or walk on their own yet, infants are already beginning to perceive the world around them. As the first stage of early childhood right after newborn, the main focus will then be to make sure that the infant is properly fed, allowed plenty of time to sleep, and kept clean and comfortable so as to prevent illnesses in their very vulnerable state. It can also be helpful to talk to them and let them listen to music, as even if they cannot give verbal responses yet, they are already sensitive to what they hear, see, and feel.
  2. Toddlers (1 – 3 years old)
Your little one is now starting to walk, talk—albeit in broken words—and therefore are ready to explore the world around them a bit more. At this stage, it is crucial to maintain a safe environment where they can be protected from accidents or mishaps, while still being able to roam around. Rubber mats and playpens will greatly help. Also, make sure to double check the toys they are playing with, so as to prevent swallowing, cuts, and other injuries. In order to get them ready for preschool, give them educational toys and picture books, which will allow them to already familiarize with the basic fundamentals, such as shapes, colors, numbers, and letters.
  3. Preschoolers (2 ½ – 4 years old)
If you think your little one is ready to listen to the teacher, learn their basic fundamentals, and play along or socialize with other kids their age even at 2 ½ years old, then you can try putting them in a pre-school and daycare in El Paso, Texas. During this stage, their brains are already starting to fully perceive and absorb the information being taught to them. This is also where they will begin to practice independence, refine their socialization skills, and develop fine motor skills.

When it comes to giving your child the right educational experience, choose a pre-school that will not only teach them the fundamental basics, but also help them to achieve a healthy physical, mental, and emotional growth. For that, Noah’s Nook Pre-school & Daycare will help your little one attain their optimal early growth potential.
